Children identified as having a Special Educational Needs or Disability, are supported in school in the following ways:
Each class has a Teaching Assistant who works with the teacher to meet the needs of all the children in the class. This can be through the provision of differentiated work, small group or individual support provided both within or outside the classroom.
Children have have access to 1 to 1 daily support from a teacher or TA using precision teaching techniques.
Children requiring additional help with their emotional health and well-being can access support from our staff trained in Thrive.
The school also has access to the following services: Education Psychology, Speech and language, School nurse, Behaviour Support, County Autism Team, Parent Support Advisor and CAMHS. if you wish to enquire about any of these services, please contact the school and we will be very happy to help.
Children may be given an Individual Education Plan, a Behaviour Plan or other support plan that is tailored to meet their needs. These will be shared with the parents and reviewed regularly.
The school has good links with our local Secondary schools (Ivybridge, KEVICC, Kingsbridge) and we liaise closely with their SENDCo’s to help provide a smooth transition from Year 6 to Year 7.
